Who plays my original characters?
Challenge #12
In your own space, tell us who you would recast in a film, tv series or webseries, or maybe someone voicing a cartoon or videogame. Or who would you cast to play a character in a book, comic or maybe even your own fiction! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Does Michael Shanks count? Because I would have totally cast him in any number of tv shows and movies over the years. He's a stand-out actor, people! Just because he did sci-fi and is Canadian doesn't mean he's B list! I'd have liked to have seen him play a vampire. Or the president. Can you imagine Air Force One with MS instead of Harrison Ford? Yes, please.
Anywho, making "face claims" for my original fiction is common for me. I take an actor, an athlete, or an interesting person I've seen and use their physical characteristics for one of my characters. It makes it much simpler to describe them if I have an actual face to work from.
Beyond that, two of my characters are definitely Jack and Daniel from Stargate Sg-1. Or how I think they might act in a different world.
Barca - nickname "The General" - short silver hair, dark eyes, sharp and decisive and protective of his people. Strategist. Can be ruthless.
Fabius - nickname "The Seer" - brown hair and blue eyes, insightful, gifted, empathetic. He'll stand between someone and a staff blast if you know what I mean.
These two come as a pair in my writerly brain.

Oh yes, Michael Shanks and Richard Dean Anderson made such a great duo, I could see them in many roles too. I always loved the way they bounced off one another!
I totally agree with you about the writing, I've often imagined a real person when creating characters in my fiction, as you say, it does help visualise the character in the story.
